Central American Integration System History
SICA was established on 13 December 1991, with the signing of the Protocol of Tegucigalpa, which amended the Charter of the Organization of Central American States (ODECA). The formation of SICA was part of the Central American peace and cooperation process, initiated in the 1980s to respond to regional challenges and promote sustainable development.

The structure of SICA includes several institutions to ensure effective regional cooperation:
- The Meeting of Presidents: The supreme body of SICA, making decisions on policy and strategy.
